Dr. Nader Batal is a family medicine physician at Primary Medical Group’s Garden Street office, where he provides comprehensive, patient-focused care with an emphasis on long-term wellness. He earned his undergraduate degree in neuroscience and physiology from UC San Diego and went on to complete his medical training at Western University of Health Sciences as an osteopathic physician. During that time, he also served as a pre-doctoral teaching fellow, developing advanced skills in hands-on osteopathic treatments that he continues to use in his practice. He completed his residency at Dignity Health in Santa Maria, where he received osteopathic recognition and further training in both family medicine and manual therapy.
Dr. Batal’s path into medicine was shaped by early experiences working alongside his father, a physician who served as a trusted figure in his community. That foundation sparked a passion for building meaningful relationships with patients and delivering care that goes beyond treating illness. He takes a collaborative approach, working with each patient to understand their lifestyle, goals, and challenges. His philosophy centers on prevention, overall well-being, and personalized care plans. He has a strong interest in helping patients manage weight, improve mental health, address sleep concerns, and make sustainable lifestyle changes through both medical and non-medical options.
Outside of work, Dr. Batal enjoys staying active and exploring a wide range of interests. He spends time cooking, especially Lebanese recipes passed down from family, and enjoys trying new dishes from his Lord of the Rings cookbook. He also enjoys biking, hiking, boxing, and spending time outdoors, believing that regular activity and time in nature are essential for overall health. He speaks Arabic and is continuing to improve his Spanish, allowing him to better connect with a diverse patient population and support their health journeys.
“I firmly believe in the power of preventive care and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle — values I practice and encourage in my work.”
